Caligula Bust

Caligula Bust

Last year I visited the Metropolitan Musuem of art for the first time ever. Needless to say it was an enjoyable and rewarding experience. I snapped 20gb worth of hi-res pictures of the exihibits for future use in my projects. This bust of Emperor Caligula is the first attempt of putting those picture to good use. (Programs: Zbrush, Maya, Photoshop)

I was able to take perfect orthographic shots, this is just one of them.

A recent habit I've gotten into, which drasticly helps my work flow.

Both this image and the one above it, were taken after 5 -7 hours of refining, painting and experimenting with hair sculpting techniques. At this point I showed the bust to a few people for constructve feedback.

This image is a comp of the above render layers. I plan to use this bust for lighting and texturing practice in another 3D package. For right now I'm leaving it as is and moving on to other sculpts. I'll get back to this guy later.
